Registered Acupuncturist
Amanda is a Registered Acupuncturist who graduated from MacEwan University in June of 2019. Amanda has always had a deep interest in Alternative Health and Biomedical Health Sciences, spending much of her free time self-studying a variety of techniques. After a long successful career in IT services as a Senior IT Business Analyst, Amanda went back to school to learn Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), studying Acupuncture and its related modalities at MacEwan University.
Triggered by health experiences observed in her own family, throughout her first career Amanda followed the effects of weather changes within herself, along with her colleagues and friends. In North America, both the subtle and drastic impact that snow, rain, wind, dryness, heat and cold have on people is generally less widely accepted. While training in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Amanda fell in love with the knowledge base that is not only widely accepted but common practice among billions of people across the pond.
As an avid gardener, Amanda’s personal philosophy is to go play in the dirt. Connecting ones hands and feet to the earth will both ground the body and lift the soul. Incorporating elements of home grown herbs into the body play on the simplicity of TCM by adding the energetics of the plants to stream through the body’s meridians. The practice of Acupuncture with the incorporation of herbs, both accents and enhances our natural ability to balance our systems. Amanda has vested interest in continuing her education by learning the art of TCM herbal remedies.
Amanda has a special interest in digestive disorders and hormonal imbalances, with a keen interest in Thyroid disorders. Too often, individual’s with thyroid disease are medicated with lab work that fall’s ‘in range’ while their symptoms have not abated. Acupuncture has a remarkable power to help the body heal itself, thus warming and balancing the body thereby reducing symptoms.
Amanda’s areas of interest include:
- Digestive Disorders
- Hormonal Imbalances
- Thyroid Disease and Disorder
- Mental Health and Wellbeing
- Sleep Disorders
